Now you can crochet with the lights off. This allows you to crochet while your husband sleeps soundly next to you! ha! Check out the NeedleLite Lighted Crochet Hook available on eBay! This is on my Christmas Wishlist, folks. Thanks to Hooked on Crochet for the link!

Hey. What’s happening? I’m taking over Mommy’s blog. No more knitting. Let’s talk about bones, squirrels, running, playing at the park and fun dog stuff. Dogs don’t like knitting. Silly, momma. I sure like my backyard though.

Well, gotta go. Found something to bark at in my backyard. I’ll keep you posted on what the other dogs are up to. They can be really noisy – mommy hates that! Most of the time, they’re telling me about the goings on in the alley. It’s important stuff. One day, we were in the middle of a meeting and mom made me go inside! Oh well.

Have a dog-gone good day. Woof! Woof!

I'm busy at work and have taken on a new project, I'm about to begin my work placement for school and must get that settled and sorted out. I have a million and one things to do around my house. Celebrations are coming up, birthdays are ready to rain down around us and a 2 week vacation to Lake of the Woods. Craft time is cut down to near nothing - mere stitches at a time or none at all. I miss creating things with my hands and yet, I don't have the energy for it either. The ideas are brimming and I should write them down so I don't forget in the future.

The joy in my life is in the little things. The simple things. Obviously times with my husband and family rank up there at the top. Our dog has brought me so much joy in just the 3 weeks that we've had him. Oh, almost a month now! The joyful simple things.....

Walking my dog 3 - 4 times a day.

Watching him stop in his tracks when I call him and then seeing him bounding towards me.

Sitting on my back steps in the morning with a cup of hot coffee and Bandit sitting right beside me, both of us looking out and listening to the world waking up and starting the day.

Walking in the rain. It's our favourite time to walk!

Working in the garden while Bandit lies on the grass near me.

Waking up to see him looking at me intensely - willing me to wake up and go for a walk! Those ear perked up and his cocked to one side. What a face!

I may not ever be a "dog person", but I am definitely a Bandit person.

Phew. It’s done.  I’m tired. Erol was the best riding buddy. He kept me motivated and he sacrificed a really cool ride of speeding down the DVP to ride with me. I felt safe and it made the ride fun. He tells me that next  year I’ll do the 75 k (with a little more training of course). 3.5 hours which I’m sure Erol could easily have done in half the time!

This is an extremely well organized ride. There are rest stops along the way with bananas, apples and oranges and water for the riders. Port-a-potties on the DVP off and on ramps - that’s pretty cool too. Lots and lots of EMS and police along the route and of course the “sweepers”. Thanks to all the hundreds of volunteers that worked to make this such a fun ride.

There were lots of kids on the ride, believe it or not - whizzing past me on their little tiny bikes. Rather embarassing! Lots of families with the kid bike attachment on the back of daddy’s bike or daddy pulling a trailer with  a wee one inside. We saw a trailer with the cutest puppy inside! Canada Bread - thank you for smelling so awesome as we were just about finished the ride and getting ready to get off the DVP. What a lovely welcome back! For the mayor – the Don River reeks man. Saw Mayor Miller down at the start. Many of us were asking why he didn’t have his bike. lol Perhaps he did the early ride?

All in all, I raised $440 for all of our hearts. Thanks to all who pledged me on my crazy adventure. It means the world to me. And thanks to Erol for being the best riding buddy. Words cannot express my appreciation.

Well, I could really use a massage right about now.

My loving hubby bought me a Creative Lab’s Zen Nano. I love it. FM radio, can record from your CD player, can record voice and I even listen to audio books. Isn’t he dreamy?

Not to mention the fact that he bought me a new  bike last weekend. It’s a Diamondback Mountain Bike and it’s a spicy orange colour.

Bandit wants it to stop raining so he can go play. Me too.
