View Article  Get Your Laugh On

Tomorrow marks the 8th Annual World Laughter Day!  Laughter club members around the world will gather to celebrate World Laughter Day. With a HO HO here and a HA HA HA there.....

Read this wonderful article about Laughter Yoga! I just love it!

In Toronto, World Laughter Day will be celebrated at:

Frankland Community Centre @ 816 Logan Ave. (SW corner of Logan & Danforth)

"Shared laughter is love made audible" - Izzy Gessell

Peace begins with a smile. - Mother Teresa

Tomorrow I am hosting World Laughter Day at work! We have refreshments and prizes (all laughter related of course!) I'll upload pictures!

If you can't make it to a laughter session, call a friend and share a laugh!

This joke made me laugh out loud! I'm sure it's old, but it still made me laugh!

Since I was only able to attend on Friday, I didn't get as much shopping time as I normally would. (This is probably a good thing.) I did get to attend 2 of Jennifer Aikman-Smith's workshops, however. The first, was Beyond the Basic X. Wow. There are so many other stitches out there! We learned the crown stitch, the butterfly stitch and the leaf stitch. I loved learning new techniques. I find it easier to learn new things like this if I am shown how, rather than if I read it in a book. The other class was about getting ideas for what to do with your stitchery - framing isn't the only thing you can do. Of course we all know that, but I'm not into dorky cross stitched sweatshirts either! It was neat to see all the great ideas. I think we were inspired and came up with some ideas of our own.

I attended one knitting workshop with Judy called "Tubular Cast-On". Ok, I love love love this method for casting on. It would be suitable for socks, mitts, legwarmers, wrist cuffs and I think I would even like it in sweaters too. Denise Powell, a member of the Downtown Knit Collective taught this workshop. We were all given a big ball of WW acrylic Paton's TLC. Judy left me hers as well! It creates a lovely stretchy edge. Try Tubular Cast-Off as well! I will add these links to the Tutorials section.

Judy left me some Paton's Merino wool that she got in her Mosaic's class. Amber, Jo and Megan bought me a big purse with the symbol for Capricorn on it! I love it!

Judy and Mom both got hooked on scrapbooking and already have special projects in mind. They stocked up on cutters, shape cutters, pages, stickers, etc. It's so funny to watch someone else get hooked on a new craft! At the moment I am unable to upload more photos. Ross promises to fix that later....

At the Presbyterian church a block from my house 10am-12:30pm. How convenient! God does work in mysterious ways!  (Denver is saying that she would like to come too. I'm sure God welcomes all living beings into his house, but you know Denver, God's humans aren't as welcoming to meowy parishioners. Sorry Denver.  I'll share my cookies with you, though.)

I found so many little goodies and I only spent $8!!

beading kit, handknitted doll (to be used as a prototype), bolt of knit fabric (enough to make at least one pair of yoga pants - 50 cents), a crocheted corner bookmark (to be used as a prototype and "idea generator", 2 little Christmasey stocking stuffers, a tray of cookies, a lot of knit/crochet books (with some super fabulous patterns all for 50 cents - but I gave her 75 ;), a hockey nightlight and a top! How awesome is that? I'll take some pics ;)

View Article  Dear Mother Nature
I am NOT impressed! This heavy snow thunderstorm - this slush falling from the sky in April is unacceptable! Especially when I have to work and cannot cozy up at home and stitch/knit/play in my craftroom all day long. End of rant. Now off to the Laughter Group! Ho-Ho-Ha Ha Ha!! (Do this about five times while clapping your hands. Ensure the fingertips touch as  you clap.) Be sure to do this from the belly. Then just relax back and have a good, long hearty laugh! You deserve it!
