A few years ago when my English cousin, Elizabeth came to visit us, she brought each "Lady" of the family a Royal Worcester egg coddler. This is the closest to mine. I found a site devoted to egg coddlers complete with recipes.

what decade does your personality live in? quiz brought to you by lady interference, ltd Well, I took the quiz and apparently, I'm in the 50's?! Ok, I mean, I can now hear the American Bandstand theme song playing in my head and a much younger Dick Clark hosting the show - it was one of those "there's-nothing-else-on" shows when I was a kid. If I'm living in the 50's, then I really AM my mother! lol Saturday, January 24

So I mentioned that I went to Village Yarns, in the Village of Islington (Burnhamthorpe and Dundas St. W.) I bought 2 balls of Zara 100% Merino Wool from Italy (go to villageyarns.com and click on "Featured:"). I bought #6050 which is a lovely cranberry colour. I'm going to make myself some wrist cuffs. I figure it's a great project to re-start knitting in the round. I also bought myself some Brittany dpn's. I bought one ball of Inca Gold which is 100% baby alpaca and is made in Peru. This stuff is heavenly to the touch! I found this gem while browsing around in the store. Yes, yes I know how to knit. But there are some super cute projects in here! I want to make the bunny, the pillows and the sweater for me. There are some great projects that I would love to make for Dawn too. It's a great little book! Now I'm off to knit before bed.

Still concentrating on going forward. We started working on control today - skating forward with swerves, then skating foward and turning around. We did try some backward skating today. Not very successfully, mind you. Apparently I am the best at turns. Paul, the Helper was very excited when he saw me demonstrate my turns and he shouted "You're the best of the group at turns!" I practiced stopping. I still can't stop. If I concentrate any harder when trying to stop, I'm likely to let out a resounding fart. Paul was laughing so hard at me today. He said I looked funny. I think Ross and I need a video camera for our lessons. Friday, January 23

With everyone blogging their diet and exercise regimens, I decided to get on the band wagon. What I've been eating this week: Monday: a cracker, 2 sips of broth, 1/4 cup of tea (I think I registered in the minus food category this day) Tuesday: bit better today: peanut butter toast, beef broth and crackers, tea, homemade vegetable soup, crackers Wednesday: Quaker's instant oatmeal, banana, homemade vegetable soup, tea, homemade vegetable soup, crackers Thursday: back to work: breakfast: scrmbled eggs, 2 sausages. Lunch: Chinese corn soup, tea. Snack: Reeses reverse peanut butter cup. Supper: turkey, veggies. Friday: Breakfast: French toast with maple syrup, coffee. Lunch? Now what should I have for lunch? Exercise: Good strengthening of my core (abs) day one of the stomach flu. Wednesday, January 21

Like a good health care worker, I called our Occupational Health Dept. this morning to see if I'm allowed to return to work yet. It appears that I have the Norwalk Virus, and must be symptom-free for 48 hours. I will return to work tomorrow morning. I was all showered, dressed and ready to go today, though. I'm still feeling a little queasy so I'm not all that upset that I have one more day at home.

Yesterday, this was me. I think I called Ross crying around 4 pm because I was too sick to move. I had no energy to go get myself a glass of water! Not that I could have kept it down anyway. Today, my insides are so sore. My throat is sore, my stomach is sore - I feel like I have some internal damage! Thankfully though, this flu started the day AFTER my birthday! YAY! Ross gets home last night and he too has the flu. We spent the day moaning and groaning together and trying to look after each other. I made him tea, he made me toast. :) Right now, I'm still weak and dehydrated and not ready for any of Ross's spicy home-cooking yet. So, we both had the flu shot. While they tell you that the flu shot does not protect you from all strains, it would have been nice to have been protected from this one! uh, Jamie, that was some birthday present! I love a good go at the telly with Jesse James' Monster Garage. Two nights ago, Jesse turned a Peterbilt into a "tricycle". It was awesome! I love the apparel that you can buy on the Monster Garage site. I need some of those shirts!! And maybe a "Pay Up Sucker" beanie! lol

My boss offered to give me a ride home tonight. By the time we walked the 5 or 6 blocks to her car, cleaned it off and got in, it was about 5:20 or so. I did not reach home until 8:00! A drive that is normally 25 max, was a very interestingly slow trek through the snow. Thankfully we get along so well!

I got home from work and poured myself a nice tall glass of eggnog. Finish it up. Mmmm mmm. I pour in a generous smattering of nutmeg..... er... poultry seasoning! I scooped out as much as I could, took a taste sip. Hey, it's actually alright. Nice to have a different flavour in there. Cheers! Monday, January 12

Cruising around, I found Mme Glitchbane's Project Time Estimator for Hand Knitted Garments. At least now you'll have an ETA and know whether you want to embark on the hand-knit journey or not!

Yep. For the next two weeks I'm pulling the 9 to 5'er thing. Up at 6 and out by 7:20 ish to catch the Rathburn bus. I'm a full-timer for two weeks to get some mondo work done. Just thinking about it all is overwhelming! After that, I'll be working 28 hours per week (instead of my usual 20). So already, I'm moving up in the world. Sadly, this leaves less time for my regular crafty self.
