Good morning. Isn't it a wonderful morning? Jamma tells me she is P'ing where it says to in row 1 of pat. But I don't get it, because it says to YO right before the P. Which doesn't make any sense. If you do Y.I.B. of the needle, you get this tangled mess, no? I've probably already done like 6" of this, I'm not really thrilled about tearing it out. I could leave it and we could just see how different they turn out? Jamma, take a picture of your shawl in between all your company and busy-ness. lol
View Article  It was a long night...

Another trip to the emergency ward last night. This trip was only 3 hours. (This makes me sound like a hockey mom! lol) Hubby crashed his bike last night on the way home from work. He's ok. A broken radial head and the knees are fine. No skin, but ok. The road burn and the broken arm are causing the real pain. The good news is, he's alive and he didn't hit his head! And he'll probably need a new bike.

I got a good head start on the Vanilla Shawl-along, though. When you s1 at the beginning of Row 1 and don't on the other end, this gives you one loose end and one end that rolls up. I'm thinking you should either slip on both ends, or knit that slip at the beginning instead. :) I started knitting it because we are going to do a border in crochet anyway!

Um.... *I cast on. I tried the first row. I ripped it out. ** Repeat from * to * * 2 times. ARGH!

I cast on 58 sts. I believe there is an error in row 1.

Row 1:   Sl1 *(YO, K2tog) (K2tog, YO) P1* to last two st. K2.

I believe it should read:

Row 1:   Sl1 *(YO, K2tog) (K2tog, YO) K1* to last two st. K2.

This is where I'm at. In case you're wondering, niece's shawl is done! I'll be sure to take photos. Not to worry. The pattern is here if you're interested! I used a pink Phentex chunky :) Yes, I'm also still working on my Dragon!

I need to start a new support group. CA (Crafter's Anonymous).

"Hello, my name is Amanda and I'm a Craftaholic. I just can't stop myself. I have a problem. And I NEED HELP!"

Join Jamma and I in our Plain Vanilla Shawl-along! We are starting this week. Knowing Jamma, she's already casted on! I'm just getting some laundry on, dishes on, and finishing up a poncho that I made for my darling niece for her 2nd birthday! She's so old!

For me, this knitalong is really a stash reduction project. I'm using up some old yarn that I have had for years!

Pattern: Plain Vanilla Shawl from Black Purl Magazine.

Yarn: Berella Country Garden D.K. "The Claire Murray Collection"

Yarn Colour: Charcoal Heather

Yarn Details: 100% Pure "Superwash" Merino Wool, Double knitting weight. 50g balls. This is machine washable! Yay!

I'm using  8 mm needles.

Jamma has already got a head start (ha! Pardon the pun!) on me! I'll post an update tonight!

Update: Ok, this is from work so no pic yet and just a quick jotty note! I've completed round 14 and now I must make the flower. I still haven't decided how to do that. I had to frog round 4. My hat is a little ... big.... but it's ok.... I guess.... A smaller hook might be in order. I'm thinking of doing a wine coloured flower. Picture forthcoming! It is a very pretty pattern.

I've picked my yarn. I swear I'll take pics tonight and beg Ross to upload!  It's a red and burnt orange and white fuzzy kind of yarn. I'm guessing it's thicker than a light worsted-weight, since it's textured, so I'll try using different hooks until I get it right! For the flower, I haven't really decided. Maybe an orange flower or perhaps a deep red. I'll figure it out when I get there! Jamma, have you picked your yarn? Maybe we can get started tonight. Or tomorrow morning. Pick a time!
