I did a simple 2 row shell border pattern around the afghan. I used 1 ball of fuzzy white yarn - can't find the label for the yarn, but it is acrilique and it was made in Portugal. And it looks divine on this comfortghan. I think it adds a touch of elegance.
Pattern: Victorian Dream Square pattern from Crochet Pattern Central
Yarn: Patons Canadiana 4 balls X 100g (I used all of the yarn); leftover white worsted weight for the centres; and I bought one ball of fuzzy white acrylic yarn made in Portugal: Pluma to do a shell pattern (2 rows for a border)
Hook: H/5mm
The afghan is 3 x 3 squares - 9 squares in total so it works up pretty quickly. I just wanted a little afghan that was suitable for the wheelchair, sitting up in bed, etc. I gave it to her yesterday and she loves it.
Border is a shell pattern (3 dc in same st, ch2, 3 dc in same st, sk next 3 sts, repeat around). When I got to the end and wanted to do a second row, I did a sl st to join, slip stitch over to the ch2 sp, ch3, 2dc in same st, ch2, 3 dc in same st, sk next 3 sts, *3 dc in next st, ch2, 3 dc in same st, repeat from * around, sl st to join)
