A pattern to make a knitted uterus, complete with finishing instructions :
"... Draw yarn through remaining 8 stitches and fasten. Insert dolls head or ball. Weave seam binding or ribbon through to control opening." What exactly would you want a knitted uterus for? For your friend/family member who recently had a hysterectomy? "Here. I made you this. Thought it might brighten your day to get a handmade, knitted uterus!" With a card that reads, "Happy Hysterectomy! Who needs that old thing, anyway?"

Here's a pattern for a funky duct tape purse. When I was a kid, my stepdad Buzz raced boats. What do you do when you've just finished the qualifying heat, have a gaping hole in the side of your boat and want to race in the final? You gather up all the bits of your boat that you scooped out of the water, take it all back to the pits and grab a couple of rolls of Duct Tape of course! All hail the mighty Duct Tape gods! Check out some "must have" funky Duct Tape Fashions. What kind of boat? 2.5 L Stock Inboard. Had a 2300 Cobra engine in it. I miss that boat! S-100 Circuit Breaker! (Buzz worked for Ontario Hydro).

These little darlings are knit! The pattern is on the Knitty website. I just love these! I crocheted some finger puppets for Dawn's little barn bag. Now I can knit some! Do elephants go in a barn? Sure!! I'm adding an elephant to my Christmas wishlist. Monday, October 13

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! There is nothing worse than fighting with an unclear pattern, ripping out all of your work and beginning again only to have to rip it all out and start all over. To finish and realize how ugly it is, well that's just devastating! Maybe I'll give up on ugly slippers. Today Ross told me he doesn't like knitted or crocheted things. He thinks they are ugly and are 70's. Except of course for knitted sweaters. He is so lucky he said "except for knitted sweaters"!!!

The Trent School of Rughooking is held at Trent University in Peterborough, ON. The next school is Sunday, June 20 to Saturday, June 26, 2004. There are 7 courses to choose from. Accomodations and meals are included. There are many activities and events planned for your stay. What a great way to learn a new craft and to make a bunch of new friends while you're at it! The site with deets will be updated in November 2003 and you can sign up for your packages then. I want to go!!!

Yeah, well, you can never have just ONE project on the go. I think it's "Project Law" and is in the "Crafter's Code of Ethics". I am now working on a pair of slippers for my Aunt Kathy. The soles are knitted, then the rest is crocheted, complete with crocheted flowers on top. They are all white and right up her alley.
As for the "other" project, the big one, the non-transportable project - the one that shall only be worked on at home (and never when I am tired) is a sweater. It's extremely complicated and my poor little head spins every time I do a row. I'm using Patons Melody Quick and Cozy, otherwise known as a super-bulky weight. Normally knit with size 10mm needles, I'm using an 8mm, 29" circular knitting needle to make a sweatshirt style sweater, complete with pockets and a hood. Having been to Patons' website, I am now aware that the colour I have is discontinued! My colour is 910 which is a lovely shade of royal blue (fit for a king, of course!) The good news? It's machine washable and dryable! If I have extra (and I think I might) what will I do with the rest of it?? Tuesday, October 7

Here are some Basic Instructions (Lord knows I need basic!) for the afghan stitch or Tunisian Crochet.I had no idea that was the same thing! Knitted Threads has more instructions. You will need an afghan hook which is much longer than the regular hooks. (I bought two ages ago for an awesome afghan pattern I have around here somewhere - don't ask me where it is!) Here is an Afghan Stitch Dishcloth.
If you need to learn what an "hdc" or "tr" is, Needlecraft University has all the instructions in the "Library". You'll also find instructions for knitting stitches. Make sense of all those nonsense sentences in patterns! :) They offer online classes for knitting, crochet and ribbon embroidery. (No, I don't think I need to take up a new craft just yet.) Classes are $15, $16, $20 that I can see. That's pretty reasonable! :) More instructional for Knitting, Crochet, Cross Stitch and more at Stitch Guide. While I'm at it, Knitted Threads also has free patterns :) Monday, October 6
